A champion of vocal versatility, Camryn Dewar, B. Mus is an accomplished vocalist of many genres, including contemporary classical, opera, musical theatre, and jazz. She champions the works of contemporary composers, and her repertoire includes a wealth of music by Indigenous and living composers across North America. Hailed as an “incredible performer and instrument” (Jeffrey Gall), Dewar recently sang the role of Josette LaGrande in Li Keur: Riel’s Heart of the North with Manitoba Opera and the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra in their 2023 workshop. In 2024, she performed in the opera Blind Injustice in Montclair, New Jersey, apprenticing with composer Scott Davenport Richards, understudying the role of Nancy Smith, and working with Tony award-winning director Ted Sperling. She also is an alumnus of the Banff Centre for Creativity and the Arts and covered the role of Mimi in Indians on Vacation during last summer’s workshop Chamber Opera Interplay. Upcoming: Camryn will perform the role of Mother in Hansel and Gretel with the Montclair State University Chamber Opera Ensemble this December and will also perform with MasterVoices when they reprise Blind Injustice at Lincoln Center NYC February 3 & 4th , 2025 with Ted Sperling as Music Director and Robin Guarino as Stage Director.
